This particular rod has a custom shaped grip, that was fitted to my hand. I've found that many small stream-oriented fly rods tend to have smaller and uncomfortable grips to match the smaller length and lighter weight of the rod. This rod is not built that way. This grip has a less aggressive forward taper, ending in a larger diameter, and a more prominent middle palm swell.
